abstract = "The human is currently causing changes in climate through the
transformation of nature, occupation and modeling space. As a
result, it is important conducting studies to analyze the
variations of temperature on the planet. In this direction, this
study aims to analyze the Night Land Surface Temperature
(LSTnight) in Tocantins, from using geotechnology, in order to
understand the behavior of temperature in this region. The surface
temperature was estimated from the thermal images of sensor MODIS
(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer). The LST images
allowed the visualization of the spatial and seasonal distribution
of temperature in state of Tocantins, in 2001, 2005, 2010 and
2014. In May, lower temperatures prevailed in the region, whereas
in October, temperatures tend to be higher, with variation of up
to 8 ° C in some regions, between the two months. In May, the
minimum and maximum temperature values were lower in the
Jalap{\~a}o microregion, while the Dianop{\'o}lis microregion
had the highest minimum and maximum temperature values during all
analyzed years. There were no large discrepancies between the
night surface temperature values and the air temperature, obtained
at INMET stations during the analyzed period. There is a
correlation between the presence of vegetation cover and the
variation of the surface temperature, that is, the higher the
vegetation presence, the lower the surface temperatures tend to
                         be.",
